Bar Mitzvah is a family celebration. It is shared by the Bar Mitzvah boy’s parents, grandparents and siblings. A shared experience in preparing for this important day can connect the entire members of the family. This workshop enables such an experience.
We will learn about the process of making the Tefillin as well as the writing of their letters and their uniqueness. We will learn how parchment is processed and its meaning. We will learn about the varied versions and customs of different Jewish communities and about the source of these traditions.
After choosing the Tefillin, by using a traditional, professional, unique technique, we will insert the parchment Parshiyot into the Batei Tefillin (Tefillin boxes) and sew them with a unique thread according to the halachic rules and Jewish tradition and the customs of each Jewish community.
A kit including the Tefillin we chose and made together and complementary products* such as a Tallit, a customized Tallit and Tefillin bag with an embroidered name, Tfidanit (a protective case for Tefillin) and more.
We in A Sign of Love have set the goal of connecting different Jewish communities and gathering them to pursue a common goal – The Jewish Sefer Torah
