A Sign of Love is an association operating in Israel and abroad for connecting each and every Jew and Jewess to their part of the Sefer Torah of the Jewish people.
We offer a continuous community activity that will connect the members of the community to the community Sefer Torah, by taking an active part in its writing. After the joint writing ends, we will hold a festive event of Hachnasat Sefer Torah – bringing the Sefer Torah to the community synagogue.
The team of A Sign of Love will visit the community with a Sefer Torah in the process of being written and will organize a workshop for the members of the community – adults, youth and children, with the full cooperation of the community leaders and/or the local Shlichim.
The workshop will include an explanation of the writing of the Sefer Torah and the shape of its letters. The members of the community will be invited to experience a tangible and personal connection to the Sefer Torah by writing one of its letters.
From years of experience, such a workshop bonds the members of the community, providing an unforgettable experience that constitutes an important part of basing and strengthening the community and its Jewish identity. Thus, the community joins the largest community of Torah-letter-writers in the world and becomes part of the community of A Sign of Love.
Each and every participant receives a bracelet and personal certificate.
VIP meetings can be held with the leaders of the community during which they receive a thorough explanation of the process of writing the Sefer Torah and take part in writing the Sefer Torah by writing their own letter in it.
Each participant then receives ‘his letter’ – an elegant, framed piece of parchment bearing his first name.
As a summary of the community workshops and within six months, we recommend holding an event of Hachnasat Sefer Torah – bringing the Sefer Torah to the community synagogue. During the event, the final letters of the Sefer Torah will be written by the major donors/community leaders and with the attendance of the entire members of the community.
The event will include writing a schedule for the event, writing the final letters (up to 200 letters) of the Sefer Torah by the members and dignitaries of the community, a festive, musical procession ending with bringing the Sefer Torah to the community synagogue.
The procession of bringing the Sefer Torah to the community synagogue is the highlight of the process of writing the Sefer Torah. The procession is the last, important stage of the writing of the Sefer Torah. The event elevates the community and empowers its members.
We invite you to turn the experience of writing the Sefer Torah into an unforgettable event.
We in A Sign of Love have set the goal of connecting different Jewish communities and gathering them to pursue a common goal – The Jewish Sefer Torah
